Description

The consultancy works for the Palorinya Bridge project were undertaken to deliver a safe and sustainable link between the settlement camp and Obongi through a structured two‑phase process.

  1. In Phase 1, the team carried out an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, prepared a Resettlement Action Plan, and developed preliminary engineering designs supported by economic and financial analysis.

  2. In Phase 2, they prepared detailed engineering designs based on field surveys, geotechnical and hydrological studies, and produced bidding documents suitable for international competitive procurement. All design documentation, cost estimates, and reports were submitted to the Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) for review and approval before progressing. The consultant adhered to MoWT standards and Eurocodes, ensuring compliance with national guidelines and international best practice. Additionally, the works emphasised the use of locally available resources and Ugandan registered companies to support wider economic development while meeting technical, environmental, and social requirements.
